This past weekend I went to the Halloween in August event at the Fort Langley campground for FrightfestBC’s gathering and annual haunt.

Friday we set up walls and began decorating and by Saturday afternoon we had accomplished a full haunt.

Its a one night haunt and a lot of work, but it’s a great way for us to see different haunters ideas and learn new techniques. We are all busy in October doing our own haunts, parties and yards for Halloween so the FFBC Halloween in August haunt is a great opportunity for each of us to see each others creations and ideas put to use in a haunt.

Another thank you I should have sent out forever ago, is one for being selected as a finalist in the 2008 Haunter’s Video Awards. Sorry I did not post this sooner.

Paul ‘Propmaster‘ Venturella does an excellent job each year compiling a DVD series of haunts from all over the globe. This set is judged each year and awards given in different catagories. 2008′s winners are listed below, but go take a peak at all the great haunts that won in previous years as well!

Thank you so very much to everyone involved with these awards and dvd’s. I feel honored to have been selected to be a part of it!! … and a HUGE thank you to ‘Frog on the Pumpkin‘ who spent a fair penny getting my skull trophy mailed to Canada. I will repay you somehow!

Halloween Yard Display 2008

So we had the party on the 25th in town, and had hauled all the halloween decor over there. Then quickly took it all down and brought it home. I set everything back up on the 31st and took it all down again by 11pm that night.

It rained, hard… I already posted a few rainy pictures. The props all held up fantastically, no paper mache fatalities thanks to sealing everything. Though I live on the Canadian west coast so we expect it to rain here.

October 31st…. RAIN

The October 31st forecast called for rain.
…and WOW did it RAIN!!
All my paper mache props are sealed, so I didn’t need to worry about them being out in the bad weather.

The only thing I had to alter because of the rain was the hag’s cauldron. The cauldron, like almost all my props is made of paper mache. It has a faux liquid toppper, and inside has a blacklight. The rain was seeping in under the faux topper and pooling inside. I had to drill a hole in the bottom of the cauldron for it to drain.

Luckily the weather cleared by about 6:30pm and a nice fog filled the neighborhood.

This year we threw the costumes together last minute… I don’t know what we were supposed to be, just sort played off the ‘DeadSpider’ thing. I am usually the one behind the camera so hopefully I receive a better picture of us from one of our friends.

Our Halloween party was on the Saturday, October 25th.
Decorating went pretty smooth this year. We were able to take some set-up pictures Friday evening.
