Great tutorial! Just a word of caution when using Dragon Skin or any other platinum silicone – DON’T use any clay that contains sulfur or your DS won’t cure! And be very careful if you use latex gloves while handling the DS – again, it won’t cure if in contact with latex. Dragon Skin is a GREAT silicone, but she’s very picky when it comes to her “friends”.

this is EXACTLY what i’ve been looking for. those came out beautifully. any idea where i can find a skull like that to mold from? i really like the way that one looks and i haven’t found many i like online. i guess i’m picky.

Bravo! Bravo! I’m such a fan of your work, and am thrilled that you post how-to articles for your projects. I’m in the same boat as Steve, having no skills in the molding/casting department. Any chance to write up tips/tricks/how-tos on the casting portion used with these molds yet? (I’m sure you’re still relaxing after the 31st)

For us molding morons, will there be a subsequent how to on using said mold/mother mold to cast skulls?

Great work by the way, one of these days I’m going to jump into molding/casting and this is a definitely bookmarked

An excellent how-to. I’ve made silicone molds and let me tell ya – screwing them up is costly. It’s good to have such a thorough resource like this to refer to.
